Shipping Information
Overview
Vortechs ships orders across South Africa using BobGo, a multi-courier shipping platform that connects us to several of the country’s leading couriers (including The Courier Guy, RAM, Fastway, SkyNet, and Internet Express) through a single system. This means every order is automatically routed to whichever partner courier can get it to you reliably and efficiently, with full tracking provided from dispatch to delivery.
Order Processing and Delivery Times
How long your order takes to reach you depends on whether the item is in stock or on order:
- Normal (in-stock) orders are typically shipped within 7–10 working days of your payment clearing.
- Backorders and pre-orders, items sourced specially or ordered ahead of stock arriving, typically take 2–3 months to ship. Where an item is on backorder or pre-order, this is indicated on the product page and in your order confirmation.
- If your order contains a mix of in-stock and backordered items, we’ll reach out to confirm whether you’d like the available items shipped immediately or held so everything arrives together.
Delivery times quoted above cover processing and dispatch from our side. Once your parcel is handed to the courier, transit time to your address is added on top, and will vary depending on your location, major metro areas are generally fastest, with more remote areas taking a little longer.
Please note that all timeframes are estimates. While we work with reliable courier partners, delays caused by the courier network, weather, load-shedding, or other events outside our control are not something we can guarantee against, we’ll keep you updated if we become aware of a delay affecting your order.
How Shipping Costs Are Calculated
Courier pricing in South Africa, including the rates quoted through BobGo, is based on volumetric (dimensional) weight, not just the actual weight of the box on a scale. This is standard practice across the courier industry, because a large but light parcel still takes up as much space in a delivery vehicle as a small but heavy one.
How it works:
- Every parcel has an actual weight (what it weighs on a scale, packaging included) and a volumetric weight (calculated from its dimensions).
- Volumetric weight is calculated as:
Volumetric weight (kg) = (Length × Width × Height, in cm) ÷ 4,000
- The courier charges based on whichever of the two figures is greater, actual or volumetric.
This means a large, lightweight item (such as a PC case or a full-tower build) may cost more to ship than its weight alone would suggest, simply because of the space it takes up. Compact, denser items (like RAM or storage drives) are more likely to be charged on actual weight.
Your exact shipping cost is calculated automatically at checkout using BobGo’s real-time rates, based on the combined actual and volumetric weight of everything in your cart, together with your delivery address and region. We don’t add any markup on top of what BobGo’s courier network charges for your specific order: the rate you see at checkout is the same rate the courier is charging to deliver it. You’ll always see this cost before you complete payment, nothing is added afterward.
Delivery Areas
We deliver across South Africa. Because shipping is quoted through BobGo’s live courier network, coverage and pricing are calculated automatically for your specific delivery address at checkout, including any regional surcharges that apply to outlying areas. If a courier is unable to service a particular address, this will be reflected at checkout rather than after your order is placed.
Door-to-door courier delivery requires a physical street address, our courier partners are unable to deliver to PO Boxes.
Tracking Your Order
Once your order has been dispatched, you’ll receive a tracking notification by email so you can follow your parcel’s progress in real time. All orders are delivered via courier, we don’t currently offer local collection as an alternative.
Receiving Your Order
When your parcel arrives, please inspect the packaging before signing for it:
- If the packaging appears damaged, note this at the point of delivery, or refuse the delivery if the damage looks significant.
- Once you’ve signed for a parcel as received in good condition, this may affect any later claim for transit damage, so it’s worth a quick check while the driver is still there.
Delays and Lost Parcels
